About Training

There are many ways to teach a dog, but some are more effective than others.  At Pine Rivers Dog Training Club we promote reward-based training (positive reinforcement) because in most cases it works and it causes no harm to the dog.

However, positive reinforcement although excellent, is not used in isolatio
n.  It must be coupled with consistent actions, always encouraging good behaviour but actively ensuring we don’t reward unacceptable behaviour. Boundaries must be set and right or wrong clearly indicated to the dog.  Our aim is for your dog to be calmer and more settled and your relationship with your dog to be stronger and deeper.
